Context
Betabase+ is my own product: a progressive web app for boulderers who want to see their climbing add up over time. It is a passion project designed and built by one person, me, from the first sketch to the live app, and it runs on iOS, Android and desktop straight from the browser.
Problem
Boulderers send, then forget half of it. Grades, attempts and the shoes that worked end up rebuilt from memory, if at all. For a log to actually get used, it has to be quick enough to fill in between attempts, with chalk on your hands and the warm-up going cold, and still give something back that makes it worth opening next time.
Solution
A dark, focused interface with one job per screen. Starting a session is a gym, a pair of shoes and one button. Each climb is a grade, a wall angle and a status, with sent, flash and project as colour-coded tags. Around the log sits what keeps you coming back: streaks and sends on the home screen, a rank that moves up from Novice based on the last 90 days, a full logbook, shoe wear tracking and a friends leaderboard.
Outcome
Betabase+ is live at betabaseplus.com and free, with every core feature included: session and climb logging, grades, attempts and photos, shoe wear tracking, streaks, rank and a friends leaderboard. A premium tier with deeper progression insights is planned once the core has proven itself, alongside an optional way to support the project.
